Sensei Ed is the best! My kids started with him 10 years ago and now I'm a student, too! He is so encouraging and his attitude toward the use of martial arts is respectful and reasonable.

Sensei Ed is an amazing teacher and person. My two sons have been his students for over seven years and not only has he taught them karate, but also instilled in them the importance of responsibility, leadership, and community service. They both love going to the dojo because "even though we work hard, it's fun". As a parent, I'm thrilled they've had the benefit of Sensei's instruction and guidance. They are better young men for it.

Both of our children have been with Sensei Ed for over 6 years. His knowledge and ability to engage students of all ages is excellent. He has created a great family atmosphere and a wonderful community where the students all help each other. Our daughter loves working with the other girls in class who act like big sisters and are excellent role models. Our son has overcome his shyness and was even recognized as student of the month for intervening in the bullying of another child.

As a parent, it is a joy to watch your children grow into confident young adults who have learned the value of hard work and dedication. The added benefit is they always have fun and leave class with a bunch of high fives and big smiles !

Thank you Sensei Ed !!!

The Ultimate New Year’s Resolution

The Ultimate New Years Resolution

The New Year arrived with as much fanfare as in past years, and for many of us that means New new Year’s resolutions.  I am writing this two weeks into our new year and wondering… For those of you who did make your Resolutions for this year…How are you doing with them?

You see, right around this time of January each year, those of us who have made the effort, committed to our resolution, have kept at it and struggle each day to get up and get going, are succeeding!  Congratulations! Keep up you’re outstanding achievement!  You have made your resolution a habit, one that I hope is giving you the benfits you were seeking.

For those of you who have stumbled or faultered with your new endeavor, and like most who are not able to get that habit set as a new part of the daily routine, this is the time when giving up is the norm.  This day in January is the day most people give up on their resolution. But hey, don’t fret, don’t worry. You gave it a great try.

So where does that leave you?  Maybe you need help.  Maybe you need someone to keep you accountable.  Maybe you need direction.  Maybe you need a coach.  Maybe it is time, this year, that you should try something new!

Martial arts is an established system that can better the entirety of your being.
Whether you need mental benefits like furthering your discipline muscle, physical benefits like getting in shape, or maybe you’re just looking to make some new friends; martial arts is for you.

Let’s take a look at three benefits from Martial Arts training.

The most common New Year’s resolution you will hear is to get in better shape.
The physical benefits from martial arts are obvious.
Martial arts will get you in shape in a way you find fun. Your body gets more comfortable with itself, so you have better control over your physical abilities as well.
Needless to say, arming yourself with the self defense tactics from martial arts makes you better equipped to deal with some of the more dangerous physical obstacles in life.
Really, martial arts is more than just physical improvement.

Looking for more discipline, focus, and awareness?
There are several martial arts benefits, but the greatest is the mental toughness.
Martial arts helps connect your mind with your brain. It helps your mind gain the necessary control it needs to do this. It helps you find comfort in stressful situations. Maybe you want to be more adventurous, less scared of the world, or more adjusted to your own body?
It’s more than just kicking and punching. The spiritual benefits are plenty. There has always been a strong connection between the zen world and martial arts. This mental improvement can help you deal with your anxiety, your depression, and any other negative mental stressor that is plaguing your day to day.

The social benefits of martial arts are often overlooked.
Maybe you’ve gotten in with the wrong crowd, and have decided that you need to add fresh faces to your life. Maybe you just need some new friends.
The martial arts community is one of the friendliest, most supportive, and inspiring groups of people you will ever find. It’s a great place to make lifelong friends and relationships.
You will find that the martial arts world is fascinating on it’s own, and that you could spend a whole lifetime indulging in some of its pleasantries.
You will get addicted to the lifestyle and your new friends will be able to empathize.

Why just pick one New Year’s resolution this year when you can be apart of something that covers so much more than just one improvement?
This new year, you could be smarter, healthier, calmer, and happier.  So what are you waiting for?  We are here… waiting for You!
